Bounce That

I think I fell off the face of the planet for a while.. but I guess having no internet, a plethora of schoolwork, and nothing remarkable to say will do that to you. But, I rejoined my fellow human beings and friends for a brief sojourn in good ol' Montreal. So refreshing. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go shopping, but in a couple weeks I'll be back with a venegence...

Friendly Fire

Possibly my favorite interpretation of the "boyfriend blazer." It almost makes me wish it wasn't going to be 28C tomorrow. Almost.

Open one eye

In a bit of a fash rut. It's too hot for a blazer, but too cold for just a tshirt and I'm too lazy to layer. Especially when I'm late for class. I've been feeling nude tones a lot lately though. I feel like I should have a list of ideas for fall back so i don't wear skinny jeans and a tshirt like every....day.... this.... week...

Oh Great Kate, help me see the fashionable light. Help me find great outfits every day, even when I'm lazy. Amen.

Broken

Loving: almost grossly distressed jeans. I would diy mine, but I think I'm a bit too scared of ruining them. But I guess that would be closer to a good thing? Any tips?

Just call me closer

The one thing that will elevate the entire outfit. I love standout pieces. Still easy, but more of a 4 pm casual. You know, not enough to go out in, but enough that it took that slightest bit of effort.

ps. i love seeing american apparel on serious fashionistas, so refreshing.

Somebody loves me, somebody somewhere...

Colour! It gives any outfit a punch in the face, and I'm loving it. Even the combinations that you think would seem garish look fabulous when worn (i.e. blue, purple, yellow).

I've got a date with the night

I love this picture of Mary-Kate. Such a great colour, especially with black. I just wish I could see some of the dress too.

Can't go back

So if you notice a theme... I'm very interested in apartments right now since I'm moving with my boyfriend on Friday (!!!) and I'm looking for some inspiration. I love all the little bitty details in each of these rooms and hopefully I can find a way to incorporate some into my own house. I'm thinking splashes of colour, hardware, pattern, fabric textures... it's endless. I hope it doesn't end up looking schizo.

Put Some Neon into Your House

Ok, they're not new, but they are soo cool! we used to have a pink one but it died last month, but at least the white one is still working!

This is what you have to buy when there are NO lights in your apartment.

No Make Up !?

So, walking by the news stand near my house in Paris, the covers of April's Elle caught my eye.

Do we like it?

Something like a phenomenon

Sooo.... first attempt at an outfit post. I'd like to thank my super lovely, and patient, boyfriend for taking the pictures. Kthnx. That was the first time it was really warm enough to wear a blazer without a winter coat (I love living in Canada...) so this blazer is making it's first appearance out into the world with me.

Wearing: vintage aquascutum blazer, random scarf, asos dress slash long shirt and belt, american apparel leggings, and joe fresh flats.

Giv'r.

Sometimes I have those days when I have an awesome piece of clothing but I find excuses not to wear it. Not because it's not pretty enough or because it doesn't go with anything, but because I'm a little intimidated by what people might think. Case in point, my fur collar. I absolutely adore that thing and continually prance around in it but when I try and talk myself into wearing it at school, suddenly I'm very good at making excuses. I've made it my personal challenge to overcome this and I think this particular quote will continue to inspire me to "just giv'r." After all, fashion is, and was meant to be fun. Who knows? Maybe someone will appreciate it more than you thought...

An ode...

... to the stiletto.

Last friday was my first venture in heels during the day. I'm 6 ft tall, so it took a lot of courage for me to finally wear them in sunlight. I buy new heels all the time, and I made myself a promise that I would wear them more if I was going to keep buying them. It's almost a crime to buy such a beautiful piece and then keep it locked in the depths of my closet. And it's empowering! Seriously, I was getting looks left, right, and centre.. and I stopped caring after about 5 minutes. I know that in more... fashionable... places than London heels are worn all day, every day, so why can't I? So this is my ode to the high heel. Although you make my feet hurt and I have a blister on my toe, I love the way you make me feel. Now I'm off to go practice my runway stomp.

"Why become beautiful at 5, when you can become beautiful at 10 am?"

My fantasy...

I always have a daydream of crossing a street looking absolutely lethal. The highest heels, dramatic clothes, the wind blowing just right. Sarah Rutson of Lane Crawford just personified my daydream.

That's me in 8 years...

ps. I'd like to thank the lovely Feathers for making me mind-blowingly jealous... again.

And once again, she did it.

March 9th, 2009. 8 am. Wake up. I had slept 2 hours, hwk. Make up and heels and get on the metro. We got to 3 rue Dupetits Thouars and it was busting with people. Around us we saw, Salma Hayek, Jefferson Hack, Anna Wintour, Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Testino... and those are just a few names. We get in and the show begins. It was fabulous, fierce.
Thank you.

Once more, with feeling

Saw this on Fashionista on my lunch break. Looked down and realized I was also wearing black/navy. First tights and sandals, now black and navy? What is the next fashion rule to be broken? Upscale sweatpants have been done (thank you Alexander Wang) and so have evening shorts. I'm looking forward to the next steadfast rule being smashed.

Throw some D's on that

Dsquared2 is quite possibly one of my most anticipated runway shows, just because it's so much fun to watch. But this one was a little shaky... denim minis and leggings? Really? You show in Milan, and you send out that? Is your target audience 12? I liked this show because it was easily translatable from the inspirational point of view, but I think some of the looks were too played out. Starbucks, big ass bags, and plaid? I like all of these things, but I think Dean and Dan's muses are very obvious.
is this for real??
